Biography:

Born in Williamsburg, Bilal's family can trace its roots through Powhatan County's storied history, and he is proud to be the son of a Lebanese immigrant who came to this country in search of his own American Dream. With parents who were both public school teachers, he was raised to appreciate the value of education and has lived by the motto, "Learn something new every day."

Bilal is now a Career Technical Education teacher and theatre director for Powhatan County Public Schools.

He is an active member of the Virginia Young Democrats, where he has advocated to the General Assembly on the needs affecting his rural community, and he has developed adult education sessions with the Powhatan Leadership Institute, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that educates residents on county government operations while developing their leadership skills. Bilal has also has been the recipient of the Powhatan Education Foundation grant, which invests in special projects within the classroom to enrich and enhance student learning.

In his spare time, Bilal enjoys taking in nature, patronizing new restaurants and businesses, playing soccer, and spending time with family - especially as a proud new uncle.
