Fellow Patriots,
I wanted to share some important updates from last night’s Nelson GOP meeting. Carlton officially stepped down as Nelson GOP Chair, marking the end of an era. Following that announcement, I was honored to be elected to serve out the remaining year as interim Chair.
First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Carlton for his decades of tireless service and leadership, bearing the standard for conservatism in Nelson County. His dedication has set a foundation that we can all be proud of. We will be celebrating his service at a later date—once the weather warms up—and I hope you’ll all join us in showing our appreciation.
As your new interim Chair, I want to thank you for the trust you have placed in me. While I know not everyone was able to attend the meeting, I’ve been overwhelmed by the positive and supportive messages I’ve received over the past week through phone calls, emails, texts, and Facebook. Your encouragement means the world, and it strengthens my resolve to serve you and our community to the best of my ability.
Here’s a brief outline of what’s next:
- Supporting Our Elected Officials
I will be reaching out to our elected officials in the next week or so. If we’re committed to electing conservatives, we must also support those who have taken on the responsibility of serving our county. They need to know we stand with them as they work for the people of Nelson County. - Fielding and Supporting Local Candidates
I will be meeting with prospective local candidates. The landscape for local elections has changed, and communication will be key as we navigate this first election cycle under new rules. I’m confident that we can field and support a great slate of candidates. If you’re interested in running for office, I may already have your name and plan to reach out, but if not, please contact me. Let’s work together to make that goal a reality! - Reconnecting with Our Membership
I’ll be sending this email to our full list of 136 contacts. Currently, we have 72 active members, but I’d like to extend an invitation to all former members. I know there have been hard feelings in the past, but now is the time to come together. We need your help and your voice as we forge the best path forward for the Nelson GOP and for Nelson County.
I’m not pretending to have all the answers, but I do believe that together we can find the best solutions. Let’s work as a team to continue to build an even stronger future for our community.
Thank you again for your trust and support. I look forward to working with all of you in the weeks and months to come.
